  Dust Extraction Shrouds

Dustless edge grinding

These steel dust extraction shrouds are designed to help prevent airborne dust and silicosis while being light to use with no floor friction

15 reasons why these dust extraction shrouds are the world's best

Steel Dust shroud

The seals are a quarter of the cost of replacement poly shrouds and they seals last the life of several cupwheels each.

Flexible shrouds do not have adjustment for seals, they are designed to wear out so they cost more and they are "heavy" to use because of the high friction.

No wasteful airholes = better suction

All of the airflow passes under the seal where the dust is generated causing a strong inwards force that picks up the dust and takes it away through the outlet tube. There is no wasted airflow entering the shroud by other means such as holes in the top of the shroud that are found in many plastic or rubber  products. This increased efficiency means that these steel dust extraction shrouds can be used with both large and small dust collectors.

The reason Hoverhood and Cornerhood do not need these extra holes is because they are made of steel that will not distort and they are secured tightly to the grinders to stop suck-down.

"The secret" is that the seals are in a fixed position which leaves a small gap at floor level to allow the air to flow under at high velocity which is impossible with urethane shrouds that suck hard onto the floor. This air gap under the seal is automatically maintained as the diamond cupwheel wears because the seal wears away a little and is also pushed up a little as the hook and loop flexes to maintain the gap. On average the replaceable seals last the life of five cupwheels.

Our patented combination of features includes a semi covered over edging section where the cupwheel protrudes to grind against walls or edges.

When grinding the main floor area a hook & loop attached cover strip (not shown) is placed over this edging feature.

Very little dust or debris escapes through this area when grinding edges because of the strong airflow through the small gap unlike other shrouds that have a very large gap.

Advantages of steel construction

Hoverhood and Cornerhood are pressed from steel with welded steel mounting collars and steel outlet tube. Steel does not distort easily or pull down with suction, it can be clamped onto the grinder with superior strength and it will not warp in the heat of the sun. It is almost everlasting because it is not easily worn away by the grinding sands like aluminium or plastic. Seals last much longer because they are held at a fixed height not touching the floor and the hook and loop method of attaching the seal allows for instant adjustment of the seal without tools. These seals are about half the cost of replacement urethane dust extraction shrouds.
