  Power Into Speed

Situp N Grind converts all the useable power from an angle grinder into speed

A 9 in. (230mm) angle grinder produces enormous energy, torque and motor speed from a domestic outlet.

... but it has been difficult to transfer that energy to the floor when handgrinding while kneeling.

So maybe half the power is wasted.

That means it could take twice as long and cost you twice the labour while kneeling to grind.

Actually it will not take twice as long on soft concrete if you move it around in circles very quickly,

...however, on hard concrete you can waste a lot of time because it is too physically exhausting to press hard and move it quickly in circles at the same time for very long.

When kneeling, if you do not press hard on the grinding disc on harder concrete the grinder will not work close to its capacity  and you lose money.

Up to 6 weights

The Situp N Grind tool has up to six extra weights totalling 22 lbs (10kg) to obtain the maximum performance from the angle grinder motor regardless of the concrete strength.

The proper way to use it is to keep adding weights until the depth of cut is too deep to float it easily in circles. Then remove one weight so you will be working at maximum efficiency.

Motor loading

This will put a noticeable load on the grinder if it is cutting into the floor, but it will not harm the motor, they are very robust.

Just a word of warning here.

If you really slow down a grinder for a minute or two and suddenly stop it, you may burn it out.

Go to Avoid Grinder Burnout to find out how to prevent that from happening to you.

Ergonomics are important for productivity

- the stool is essential

The stool that comes with a Situp N Grind is an essential component to provide speed of movement and excellent control of the grinder.

It allows the grinder handles to fit between your knees where you have the maximum leverage and control with very low physical effort.

That means you can work hard for long periods and you still have enough energy to work hard some more.

The stool has a height adjustment which is sufficient to cater for tall and short persons because it brings the hands to the handles.

With a hand on each handle the grinder is switched on by squeezing the trigger-switch and then it is floated around in circles.

The stool can be moved instantly in any direction with the legs so the grinder can be floated anywhere with almost no effort. The weights keep the diamond cupwheel biting in and the operator moves it as slowly or as quickly as the job demands.

That is 100% grinding efficiency that you can only get from a Situp N Grind.
