  The Best Angle Grinder

There seems to be little performance difference with most of the popular angle grinders on the market with a similar power rating.

However, beware of very cheap products because the bearings may not be of the highest quality.

Voltage

In countries that have 240 Volts power the 2400W and 2500W grinders are better than the 2300W models.

In countries with 110 Volts power, use 2300W models and limit the total number of weights to 4 instead of 6.

9 in (230mm), not 7 in (180mm)

The best model is a 9 in (230mm) angle grinder because it runs at around 6,000 rpm and has powerful torque and strong gears. Situp N Grind attachments will fit all popular 9 in angle grinders using spacers provided to adjust for smaller body widths. Metabo grinders have the largest body and do not need the spacers.

The Dust Shroud - Hoverhood  has special inserts for the hood clamp to fit the different sizes of mounting boss found on different grinder brands.

7 in (180mm) angle grinders are usually identical in appearance to 9 in angle grinders, but they run at around 8,000 rpm which is too fast for the diamond segments and not enough torque when you need it.

Do not use polishers for first-cut preparation

Polisher / sanders run at slower speeds and have variable speed control for polishing. They are lighter duty motors that are not designed for the hard work of first-cut floor preparation with 7 in cupwheels.

They are better suited for use with resin pads. Use them for first cut work on the edges only and fit them with 5 inch cupwheels.
